SNP hoisted by their own petard

The Press and Journal (Highlands & Islands) - - Opinion -

SIR, – Scottish Finance Secretary Derek Mackay seeks to play the usual SNP victimhood card by demanding a level playing field in the matter of VAT payable by Police and Fire services in the UK (Press and Journal, February 14).

He should bear in mind that there was indeed a level playing field before the SNP Scottish Government chose to change the pitch by amalgamating the various regional police and fire services, thus bringing them within the scope of VAT. The Scottish Government has been well and truly hoist by its own petard to the tune of £35milion.
