Foot­ball park trees a sign of malaise

SIR, – The story about trees be­ing planted on a foot­ball pitch at Lo­gie Durno (Press and Jour­nal, Fe­bru­ary 14) would be highly amus­ing were it not an in­di­ca­tion of a deep-seated malaise at the cen­tre of Aberdeen­shire Coun­cil. That is a to­tal fail­ure to con­sult the com­mu­nity it is there to serve be­fore wast­ing both tax­pay­ers money and re­sources. Surely it is not too much to ex­pect our coun­cil to con­sult the com­mu­nity about pro­pos­als such as this be­fore com­mit­ting funds and work­ers’ time to such a pro­ject. Were this a “one-off” ex­am­ple it could per­haps be ex­cused,
