Doors open on heritage

Argyll and Bute Council and the Helensburgh Heritage Trust are looking for local property owners to get involved in Doors Open Day in September.

The annual event is organised by the Scottish Civic Trust. It is Scotland’s largest festival celebrating heritage and the built environment and offers free access to more than a thousand venues across the country. People are able to explore unusual or unexpected buildings and places which are normally closed to members of the public. Fergus Murray, Argyll and Bute Council’s Head of Economic Development and Strategic Transport, said: “We are happy to support the Helensburgh Heritage Trust in taking part in Doors Open Day this year by developing the number of venues available to visit across Helensburgh and Lomond.

“We have already had a number of local property owners saying they would like to participate but we are keen to hear from others.

“Doors Open Day has something to offer everyone and is a great opportunity to take part in a really interesting initiative.”
