Reducing labour costs

Future opportunities for automation in horticulture is the subject of a new research survey by farm levy body AHDB.

A survey has been sent to growers to ascertain what technology is currently used and to see where they think future investment in new technologies should be made.

AHDB said: “With the National Living Wage driving up labour costs and the uncertainty of the future availability of migrant workers after Brexit, identifying technologies that can help reduce labour costs and pressures for businesses will become more critical.”
