Drunk woman at­tacked po­lice

A drunk 20- year- old woman kicked one po­lice of­fi­cer in the stom­ach and then at­tempted to bite an­other on the hand and body af­ter they had tried to per­suade her to go home.

In­ver­ness Sher­iff Court was told yes­ter­day that Sally Ma­clen­nan of Smith­ton Park was caus­ing a nui­sance in Bridge Street on Oc­to­ber 19 and the po­lice were called.

She ad­mit­ted two charges of po­lice as­sault and was placed on a two-year com­mu­nity pay­back order, banned from tak­ing al­co­hol dur­ing that pe­riod and told to par­tic­i­pate in a woman of­fend­ers pro­gramme.

De­fence so­lic­i­tor David Pat­ter­son said that his client had re­cently lost her job and had be­gun drink­ing.
