However, the Birmingham crime boss might just have bitten off more than he can chew as Steven Knight’s acclaimed saga returns for a fourth series. It begins as the gangster receives a mysterious letter on Christmas Eve, 1925, and realises that his loved-ones are in danger of annihilation. As the enemy closes in, Tommy flees his country house and returns to the only safe place he knows: Small Heath, the slum where he grew up.
