En­try of 1,600 cat­tle at show

An en­try of 1,600 cat­tle is for­ward for Ding­wall and High­land Marts’ an­niver­sary show and sale next week.

The event, on Wed­nes­day July 18, will start with a pre-sale show at 8.30am, with the sale at 10am. The judge is Jim Brown from Gaindyke­head Farm, Air­drie.

Ding­wall and High­land Marts man­ag­ing di­rec­tor Ian Tolmie said: “We have a good en­try of AberdeenAn­gus and some strong con­ti­nen­tal cat­tle, as well as an ex­cel­lent show of year­lings and weaned calves.”

At last year’s fix­ture, the cham­pion prize went to a 21-month-old Charo­lais cross bul­lock from WJ Jack and Son, Wood­end, Kil­lear­nan. It sold for £1,550. Re­serve was a 10-month-old Shorthorn bul­lock from Small­burn Farms, near El­gin. It sold for £1,350.
