Weather hits isle event
Barra Provincial Mòd will not go ahead today due to bad weather.
Many participants were due to travel to the event from the neighbouring islands of Uist and Benbecula but rough seas threaten to disrupt ferry services.
Organisers said the Gaelic singing, poetry and music competitions will be rescheduled for next weekend.
Most sailings across the sea route were cancelled yesterday as was the mainland ferry and the forecast is looking bad for today.
CalMac said it hoped a ferry could sail to Oban but rough seas could badly disrupt the service.
A heavy swell prevented the MV Lord of the Isles from sailing back to South Uist yesterday. The vessel was stuck at Mallaig on the mainland overnight so today’s timetable will run late.
