Ideas are just not enough for the city

The Press and Journal (Inverness) - - FEATURES -

SIr, – Councillor Marie Boulton in her defence of the council’s record with regard to Aberdeen City Centre (Press and Journal, September 28) demonstrates that she has little or no understanding of the exacting demands of modern urban landscaping.

Her response to Mr David Cran’s trenchant criticism of the current state of the city centre, Union Street in particular, comprised no more than a collection of disparate elements, mostly cosmetic, that do not cohere into a vision of the modern city.

It was akin to equating housing architecture and design with painting and decorating a few rooms.
