Weir’ s El­gin City exit

Jim Weir has left El­gin City to take over as man­ager at For­far Ath­letic. The Sta­tion Park club con­firmed the 48-year-old’s ap­point­ment last night.

El­gin City man­ager Jim Weir last night left the club to join League 1 side For­far Ath­letic.

Weir, man­ager of El­gin since Novem­ber 2014, takes over at Sta­tion Park im­me­di­ately and will at­tend a board meet­ing today be­fore tak­ing his first train­ing ses­sion to­mor­row.

The 48-year-old, who man­aged Mon­trose, Ar­broath and Brechin prior to mov­ing to Bor­ough Briggs, re­places Gary Bol­lan, who was sacked last month.

Weir’s de­par­ture comes af­ter his City came from 2-0 down to draw at League 2 lead­ers Stir­ling on Satur­day. El­gin are now with­out a man­ager ahead of their IRN-BRU Cup tie against Welsh side The New Saints on Satur­day.

A state­ment from the Black and Whites read: “Although ex­tremely dis­ap­pointed, we ac­cept his de­ci­sion and wish him luck. We (now) start the search for his re­place­ment.”

A For­far club state­ment read: “Jim was the unan­i­mous choice of the di­rec­tors fol­low­ing an ex­ten­sive in­ter­view­ing process and the club is de­lighted that he has ac­cepted the chal­lenge.”
