Weir’ s Elgin City exit
Jim Weir has left Elgin City to take over as manager at Forfar Athletic. The Station Park club confirmed the 48-year-old’s appointment last night.
Elgin City manager Jim Weir last night left the club to join League 1 side Forfar Athletic.
Weir, manager of Elgin since November 2014, takes over at Station Park immediately and will attend a board meeting today before taking his first training session tomorrow.
The 48-year-old, who managed Montrose, Arbroath and Brechin prior to moving to Borough Briggs, replaces Gary Bollan, who was sacked last month.
Weir’s departure comes after his City came from 2-0 down to draw at League 2 leaders Stirling on Saturday. Elgin are now without a manager ahead of their IRN-BRU Cup tie against Welsh side The New Saints on Saturday.
A statement from the Black and Whites read: “Although extremely disappointed, we accept his decision and wish him luck. We (now) start the search for his replacement.”
A Forfar club statement read: “Jim was the unanimous choice of the directors following an extensive interviewing process and the club is delighted that he has accepted the challenge.”
