Captain Dorrans delivers late show for Gers
rangers missed the chance to draw level with Premiership pace-setters Celtic and aberdeen as they were held to a 2-2 draw by 10-man Partick Thistle in a dramatic match.
Captain Graham Dorrans rescued a point for Rangers against 10-man Partick Thistle in a thrilling Premiership match at Firhill.
Alfredo Morelos scored his eighth goal of the season to give Rangers a half time lead but a Blair Spittal free kick and a Chris Erskine goal put the hosts in the lead.
Erskine was shown a straight red card for a lunge on Morelos and paid the price when Dorrans curled in a leveller.
Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha was frustrated and said: “We found the game was very strong and very aggressive.
“Another red card in the first half could have been shown. We attacked much more than the opponent, but we were not realistic. Two defensive mistakes led to the goals.
“I cannot be glad about the result and about the game management.
“One thing is physicality, another thing is the aggression. I am commenting on the aggression.”
Partick Thistle manager Alan Archibald was delighted with the point and said: “It was great to hold on because we have lost a few late goals.
“I was disappointed in our first-half performance but delighted with our response in the second.”
