Planners approve 44 new homes
Planners have approved 44 new homes for Aviemore, as local environmentalists expressed their misgivings about what it means for the future of development in the Cairngorms.
The Cairngorms National Park Authority (CNPA) planning committee approved two separate applications yesterday morning at its latest meeting in Nethy Bridge.
Cairngorm Properties Ltd now has permission to build 30 flats and eight terraced homes on a site to the north-west of Aviemore, while Albyn Housing Society Limited will build six affordable homes at Dellmhor, beside the Ski Road at Inverdruie.
After the meeting a spokesman for Badenoch and Strathspey Conservation Group said: “This approval sets the precedent for the first new housing on the scenic south side of the ski road that is important for landscape and wildlife.
“These latest permissions add yet more pressure.”
