Res­cue crews sworn at by man

Po­lice and an am­bu­lance crew were shouted and sworn at by a 22-yearold In­ver­ness man who they were try­ing to res­cue from the Cale­do­nian Canal.

Stephen Urquhart, of Cameron Cres­cent, Mun­lochy,

“Shout­ing and ut­ter­ing of­fen­sive marks”

sparked a res­cue at Muir­town Basin on May 21. At In­ver­ness Sher­iff Court yes­ter­day, he ad­mit­ted ob­struct­ing the emer­gency ser­vices by re­fus­ing life­sav­ing equip­ment to re­move him from the canal and shout­ing, swear­ing and ut­ter­ing of­fen­sive marks.

Sen­tence was de­ferred un­til Novem­ber 9 for back­ground re­ports.
