Street stunts and lots of laughs
A host of top street performers will be showcasing their talents today and tomorrow for the Inverness Street Festival.
Staged to promote the wider city-centre retail area, the festival takes place in the Victorian Market, High Street, Falcon Square and Eastgate Centre.
The acts will include Granny Turismo, where Mary, Marge & Gladys show off their super shopping trolley dance routines.
There is also Jason Maverick, a multi-skilled entertainer who will be displaying his robotic dancing, comedy mime, slow motion and ball juggling.
“We are delighted to be supporting the festival again”
Busy Lizzy, the flower lady, will also be bringing a smile to people’s faces with her cargo of flowers and foliage, while Figo will be showing off his eclectic mix of weird stunts and comedy.
The festival, now in its eighth year, is jointly funded by Inverness Business Improvement District, Eastgate Centre and the Inverness Common Good Fund.
Jackie Cuddy, Eastgate Centre manager, said: “We are delighted to be supporting the festival again this year as it continues to grow along with the quality of the acts performing at it.
“Eastgate retailers are really excited about this year’s Street Festival which brings a real buzz to the whole area.”
BID manager Mike Smith said: “We’re delighted to again be bringing some of the best street entertainment to Inverness city centre.
“Our market research has revealed that 91% of those attending had come to the city centre specifically to see the street festival.”
