McInally signs defender McMullin and says ‘oui’ to French trio
Jim McInally last night signed Partick Thistle defender Michael McMullin and his search for new players will continue next week with the Peterhead manager set to run the rule over three French trialists.
McMullin, who can play left back or in central defence, moves to Balmoor for the rest of the season. Former Stenhousemuir and Dunfermline forward Allan Smith is training with the club after his release from Forfar and will be joined by three more players hoping to win a contract at Balmoor.
McInally said: “I have got three French trialists coming over next week. Ideally, I’d like to get some more players in sooner rather than later but a lot of players like to wait until the end of the month.”
But one player is set to leave, with Scott Rumsby expected to complete his move to Stenhousemuir today after Peterhead agreed to cancel his contract. McInally agreed to let the central defender leave the club as new loan signing Liam Gordon prepares to make his debut at Alloa today. McInally added: “Scott asked if he could possibly move on.
“Cowdenbeath were in touch asking if I would let him go and I agreed I would if that was what the player wanted. I expect it to be confirmed soon.”
After Saturday’s 3-2 home defeat by League 1 leaders Livingston, McInally takes his side to second-placed Alloa today.
Despite losing to the Lions, McInally was pleased with the performance and has called for a repeat today.
He said: “If we play like we did against Livingston we would win most of our games in this league. Our first aim is to move out of the bottom three and then see how high we can go from there.”
