Disappointing delay for centre

The Press and Journal (North-East) - - Opinion -

SIR, – The news that the establishment of the Aberdeen major trauma centre is to suffer significant delay is very disappointing.

It needs a much better excuse than “we must get the model right”. After all, we already have all the necessary specialist services on one site, at Foresterhill, and no research is needed to establish what more will be needed, as major trauma centres have been up and running in England for years.

As a former health secretary Nicola Sturgeon must know about these things. Get on with it, honour your pledge, and make sure that we get our centre in full – and not what some suspect may happen – a half-baked compromise dressed up as membership of a “network”.
