Teenage boy, 16, facing 22 charges
A 16-year-old boy has been charged with carrying out a spree of vandalism in the north east.
The teenager is accused of committing 22 acts of mindless destruction in less than a fortnight in Stonehaven and Inverbervie, principally targeting parked vehicles.
The youth is charged with vandalising 11 cars parked in Stonehaven between Wednesday, April 19, and Sunday, April 24. He is also accused of damaging nine vehicles in Inverbervie between Sunday, April 30, and Monday, May 1.
Constable Kevin Ritchie spoke of the ordeal that the boy had put dozens of people through.
He said: “Incidents of vandalism can cause a great deal of anxiety.”
The 16-year-old will be reported to the Youth Justice Management Unit.
