Labour grabbing SNP’ s sound bite
SIR, – The words “power grab” have never been far from the lips of SNP politicians and their supporters since the return of powers from Brussels post-Brexit became an issue.
You would think the SNP might show a little more humility on the issue of agriculture powers returning to Holyrood given the complete mess they have made of the farming powers they already have.
It looks like Labour are now joining in too with even Jeremy Corbyn (who was silent on Scottish affairs for many years) using the “power grab” sound bite. His Holyrood MSPs are also siding with the SNP on this one. This is a very quick turnaround given it is widely recognised that four years ago the party to most drag its feet during the Smith Commission negotiations on more powers for Holyrood was indeed Corbyn’s Labour Party.
Not only do they now want more powers for Holyrood, the rumour is they now support federalism, but who knows?
Those who support the SNP know that they are supporting the
break-up of Britain and a return of farm and fishing powers to Brussels. Those backing ruth Davidson’s Scottish Conservatives are supporting the UK internal market and the thousands of jobs that go with it.
Those who support Labour have no idea what they are getting. Keith Shortreed, Cottown of Gight,
