Magnier gets no run for his money
BIG-SPENDING Phoenix Thoroughbreds have made a notable impact at the yearling sales in recent weeks on both sides of the Atlantic.
They came out best on two occasions in duels with Coolmore’s MV Magnier at Goffs Orby sale in Eire earlier this month.
Magnier bid €3 million for a filly by Galileo out of Green Room who has produced three Group 1 winners. But she was then knocked down to Phoenix Thoroughbreds for €3.2 million.
The previous afternoon Phoenix again saw off Magnier at a cost of €2 million Euros to purchase a Galileo sister to the multiple Group 1 winning miler Alice Springs.
