Millions come pouring in for the new generation
WHAT a week it has been here at Newmarket with our Book 1 yearling sales at Tattersalls Park Paddocks.
Top lot, a colt by Dubawi out of Dar Re Mi fetched a sale topping 3.5 million guineas. This striking individual was bought by David Redvers on behalf of Qatar Racing. It is a lovely looking horse, good walker and very correct, it will be going into training here with John Gosden at Clarehaven.
ANTHONY Stroud signed for 21 million Guineas worth of yearlings on behalf of Sheikh Mohammed for Godolphin, many of which will be going into training at the newly refurbished Warren Place.
They will all be going to Sheikh Mohammed’s pretraining yards now to be readied before going into full training in late autumn.
RAJASINGHE and LANCASTER BOMBER will be joining the Stallion Roster at the National Stud here in Newmarket for the 2019 covering season and let’s hope they both have good stallion careers.
TRAINER Henry Spiller has recently bought Sackville House stables and has a good order book to purchase yearlings at the upcoming sales. When I first came to Newmarket in the 1960s Arthur ‘Fiddler’ Goodwill was training out of the yard. It is perfectly situated close to the Warren Hill gallops and Henry looks set to make a great go of things there.
JOHN Gosden and his team at Clarehaven will be hoping for rain next week so the ground at Ascot on Saturday will have give under foot enough to allow CRACKSMAN to take his chance in the Champion Stakes under Frankie Dettori.
This will be the son of Frankel’s final race before embarking on a career at stud.
His work recently has been most pleasing and he is in fine form ahead of this last race.
Frankie is due to partner him in his final workout this weekend and I am looking forward to watching that.
