Frankie is maestro of Longchamp

The Racing Paper - - Trends And Diary -

FRANKIE Dettori readily admits that it took him a while to conquer the challenging contours of Longchamp.

But he has been a master at the track for many years as he showed on Sunday with his sixth victory in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe on Enable.

Remarkably it was his thirtieth ride in the race. His record would surely have stretched to seven successes in the Arc but for the untimely ankle injury that cost him the winning ride on Treve in 2013.

Dettori was at his instinctive best on Sunday as he poached a crucial lead 300 yards out on Enable before coaxing her home in front without reaching for his whip despite the furious late charge of Sea of Class.
