WORD from Lambourn suggests a deal has been agreed by a Newmarket trainer to buy Rhonehurst, the yard where Aspell’s boss Oliver Sherwood trained Many Clouds to win the 2015 Grand National.

The 66-box yard, set in 18 acres, has been on the market for several months priced at £3.5 million.

Sherwood started training at Rhonehurst in 1984 and has remained there as a tenant since selling it to John Watts in 2002.

If the sale goes through, Sherwood will be looking urgently for a new base in the area to continue his career.
