Connacht, looking for their fifth win in a row at home, went behind after Ian McKinley kicked a fifth minute penalty for Treviso.
However McCartney (2), Poolman and Buckley all scored for Connacht, with Cooney adding the extras.
The second-half continued in the same vein. Despite a late consolation from Abraham Steyn, Vittorio Flammini saw yellow as the penalty count mounted, and Heffernan and Carty ensured that it was a big win for Connacht.
