RGC 1404 returned to winning ways after they put 50 points past reigning champions Ebbw Vale, at Parc Eirias.

The Gogs, who lost to Bedwas last weekend, hit the Steelmen for six in a rampant first half which put the game well out of reach of the shell-shocked visitors.

Evan Yardley opened the scoring for the hosts after Jacob Botica’s early penalty miss.

The fly-half sorted his radar and added three points, before Ebbw Vale secured a penalty try to close the gap.

Sam Jones added RGC’s second in the corner, but a mistake from the restart saw Dai Langdon knock over a simple three points.

But Will Bryan crossed at the posts before Aaron Evans sealed the bonuspoint soon after.

Ebbw Vale were in disarray as Maredydd Francis touched down beneath the bar with Tiaan Loots capping off a dazzling opening-half after a surging run through the field for try number six.

In stark contrast to the first, the second period lacked precision and pace as RGC were put on the back foot. Ebbw Vale kicked for touch at penalty opportunities but were met by an inspired home defence, who held firm.

Loots departed to the bin late on, but the damage had already been done as Rhys Williams and Jack Goodey exchanged tries before Danny Cross’ penalty brought up the half-century.
