LA ROCHELLE are second in Pool 4 after missing out on a bonus point in their 24-14 triumph over Top 14 rivals Bayonne.

Raphael Lagarde kicked the hosts in front with an early penalty but La Rochelle responded through the boot of Brock James. Lagarde added another three points before Leo Cedaro went over for a try that James converted.

Lagarde reduced the deficit with another kick but Mohamed Boughanmi’s try, along with the extra points from James, gave the visitors a 17-9 lead at half-time.

Levani Botia crossed for La Rochelle’s third try at the start of the second half before Bastien Fuster got a try for Bayonne in the final minute.
