Record breaking rout as Old Es run riot

- ■ By JON EDWARDS

Golledge and Brown both completed their hattricks, Kent Under-20s winger Huw Roberts scored a try on his first team debut and there were further scores from Lespierre, George Messum and replacements Sam Waltier and Nathan Morris to finish the rout.

Exmouth managed to get on the scoreboard five minutes from time with a well-worked try from centre Henry Goldson, well converted from the touchline by George Meadows, but it was of little consolation to the visitors. A RAMPANT Old Elthamians obliterated Exmouth, scoring a club record 15 tries on the way to their highest ever victory in the National Leagues.

The kick-off was delayed by 20 minutes after Exmouth were held up en route and they were caught cold in the opening exchanges as the home side raced into a 33-0 lead after only 22 minutes thanks to five tries from James Golledge, Dom Lespierre, Alex Brown, Adam Preocanin and Tom White.

Elthamians were camped in the Exmouth half for the rest of a onesided first half, monopolising possession and territory, which resulted in further scores from Golledge and White to put them out of sight, 45-0 at the interval.

The second half continued in the same vein as Elthamians cut the shellshocked visitors defence to pieces with some wonderful running rugby.
