Alun-Wyn to miss big Euro Cup showdown

-

ALUN-Wyn Jones will miss the Ospreys’ Challenge Cup quarter-final against Stade Francais next Sunday after suffering a shoulder injury against France last weekend.

The Welsh captain, who has been tipped as a possible captain for Warren Gatland’s British & Irish Lions squad on their tour of New Zealand this summer, will be out for at least six weeks after he underwent scans early this week.

That tour gets underway on June 3, giving Jones extra time to recover from the injury, details of which his club and the Wales Rugby Union have not specified.

A joint statement read: “Alun-Wyn suffered a shoulder injury in the Six Nations match at the weekend and, following scans and orthopaedic consultation, he will undergo an initial six-week period of rehabilitation.”
