I hope Lions realise Warrenball will not work against ABs

-

WHILE it is only fair that England have the majority share on the Lions tour after dominating the Northern Hemisphere for two seasons, but seriously, 12 Welshmen?

I hope Warren Gatland is right and that Jonathan Davies can recapture his best form. But in recent showings I think Gatland should have gone for Scott Williams. At least he resisted the urge to select Jamie Roberts.

But in Robbie Henshaw and Ben Te’o there are ready made replacements to fill that big, bashing No.12 role as Gatland has favoured in the past.

I hope he doesn’t go down that route.

New Zealand would lap that stuff up.

While the Scots may feel that they deserved more than two players, I’m not so sure. Yes, they beat Wales and Ireland at home in the Six Nations but they still don’t travel far, and Auckland is a lot further south than Twickenham.

Also I think Gatland should have selected four hookers. With just three of them one is going to be forced to back up with two appearances in a week.

Surely it would have been better to take 42 players, and give Dylan Hartley the honour to travel as England captain.

It’s a good looking squad, fingers crossed they can do it. TIM LEWIS via email
