Gold: We showed lot of fight and spirit
WORCESTER’S director of rugby, Gary Gold, accepted that it had been a tough night for Warriors.
He said: “It was very difficult to swallow that result but if you make mistakes against the champions, they will make you pay.
“We lost lineouts at crucial times and were guilty of not looking after the ball but you can understand how good Exeter are.
“We defended admirably for large periods of time. It was a very spirited effort as we showed a lot of fight in the second half but we still conceded over 40 points.
“We have a longer turnaround before the Gloucester game next Friday and it has been a tough start but there’s still a long way to go.”
Exeter’s head coach, Ali Hepher, was full of praise for his side.
He said: “I’m chuffed to bits with the attitude we are showing and there were just a few inaccuracies.
“We are in the right frame of mind to go and attack teams, when we play away from home, which is pleasing and what we want. Our defence was also wellorganised which gave us plenty of opportunities from turnovers.”
