Esher bouncing back in fine style
ESHER returned from their demolition by Plymouth Albion to power their way to a commanding home win over Rosslyn Park.
A pristine cross-kick off from Esher’s Paul Roberts was dropped in goal by Oliver HassellCollins for Kariym Irving to pounce on it and give the home team the lead in the 14th minute, the conversion dispatched by Roberts.
Park found a moment’s reprieve through Harry Leonard’s penalty but a dropped ball led to Irving collecting and racing down the wing to bag his double and the Cardinals’ second try.
Esher stretched their lead to 15 points at the break after a dangerous tackle gifted Roberts his second penalty.
Park launched their comeback through William Crow, who dotted down near the post for their first try 16 minutes into the second half for Leonard to convert.
Esher replied through a cheeky grubber from Irving that found Spencer Sutherland, who stormed over the line in the 69th minute.
The game took another turn as Leonard scored and converted with seven minutes to go, but it was in vain when replacement forward Matthew Lowes drove over the whitewash to confirm the bonus-point win for the home side.
