Clifford out of Autumn series after dislocating shoulder
HARLEQUINS flanker Jack Clifford seems certain to miss England’s Autumn internationals after injuring his right shoulder again. Clifford underwent surgery on the same shoulder in April but had seemed back to his best form against Sale before damaging the joint again.
“It looks like Jack has dislocated his shoulder. It’s frustrating for him but it’s too early to say how long he’ll be out for," said Harlequins director off rugby John Kingston.
“He had a sore bicep and pec on the left side, so he had strength tablets to get out on the pitch in the first place. It was disappointing because he played ever so well.”
Sale coach Steve Diamond: “When big players like Danny Care, Chris Robshaw and Joe Marler are on their game Quins are very formidable at home and they were too good for us.
“Last week against Gloucester all the planets aligned and all our top players played well. Tonight, without mentioning names, one or two didn’t have the best games. We need to be more streetwise.”
