Clinical Collins kicks on in Park success

- ■ By TOM GALLAGHER

SEDGLEY Park moved up to fourth in the National League Division Two North table following an impressive victory over Macclesfield at Park Lane.

Full-back Andrew Riley crossed following a break from Jamie Harrison who carried and passed inside for Riley to touch down, Steve Collins converting.

However, the visitors hit back through Myles Hall, and after Lewis Barker added the extras, the scores were all level.

Once Barker scored his conversion, he was at it again, slotting a penalty to put Macclesfield into the lead.

But two minutes later, Matt Riley carved a hole in the Macclesfield defence to allow Ashley Platt-Hughes to stretch Sedgley’s lead. Collins again stepped up and converted.

Coming up to half-time, Sedgley Park’s forward pressure opened the ball up across the back line and Harrison scored his second try, Collins adding the extras once more.

At the beginning of the second half, Platt-Hughes touched over again and following another conversion from Collins, Sedgley extended their lead further to 28-10.

With just over 60 minutes played, the visitors were putting up a fight and Nico Nyemba crossed but Barker missed his conversion attempt.

The win was secured with six minutes left. Following a lineout from a penalty, Danny Maher touched over for a converted try.
