Abbot hit back to put visitors to sword

NEWTON Abbot put on an impressive second half performanc­e to go top of the South West Premier following a 68-28 victory over Maidenhead.

Abbot, who have won nine of their first 10 games had a hat-trick from Kyle Browne to thank for the bonus-point victory.

However, the hosts were held 28-28 after 43 minutes thanks to kicker Ed Keohane scoring a brace for Maidenhead while fellow back Perry Jansen and Ross Lewis also scored.

Dings were knocked off top following a Friday night 34-26 defeat at Cleve.

Sam Polledri scored a hat-trick of tries for the hosts who had won three in a row prior to the tie with Ruben Caben and Tom Wellen also scoring tries.

Sam Hardcastle scored a hat-trick of first half tries while Scott Chistlett also scored to give them a 32-0 half-time lead.

They continued in the second half with Gianluca Firetto, Sam Hardcastle, Alex Sutherland, Harry Davis and David McDonald also scoring.

Mitch Pinkus was on kicking form for Ivybridge slotting home six out of six to give his side a 25-16 victory at Bracknell.

Alan Leishman scored a try in reply for Bracknell but the visitors went over twice in reply.

A drop goal and two conversion­s from man of the match George Meadows helped Exmouth snatch a 22-20 victory over Cambourne.

Lloyd Watkins, Sam Richardson and Henry Goldson all scored tries for Exmouth on their way to victory.

winners over Lydney.

Further tries came from Robin and James McKay, Harry Jones and Jim Morgan as they ran out clear bonus point winners on the day.

Brixham took what could be a crucial 23-14 victory over fellow strugglers Newbury Blues.

Koree Briton opened the scoring for Brixham as they went 10-7 ahead at the break before Tom Putt, impressive all afternoon with the boot, kicked his side to victory.
