Two-year drug ban

JOSEPH Stokes of Mat­son RFC has been sus­pended for two years from all sport after test­ing pos­i­tive for Ben­zolec­go­nine, a me­tab­o­lite of co­caine.

The scrum-half was tested fol­low­ing Mat­son’s 25-20 South West One West de­feat to Cleve­don on March 11, 2017. The pe­riod of in­el­i­gi­bil­ity has been ap­plied from the date of the pro­vi­sional sus­pen­sion March 31, 2017 to March 30, 2019.

The in­de­pen­dent panel con­sisted of David Case­ment QC (chair), Dr Mike Irani and Ca­role Billing­ton-Wood.
