Garden party in Mike’s memory boosts hospice funds

A Staxton garden party fundraiser in memory of a much-loved husband raised more than £900 for St Catherine’s Hospice.

Karen Roche-Pearson decided to remember her late husband Mike’s birthday by holding a two-day garden party for Saint Catherine’s.

Despite the rain on the Saturday friends and family flocked to support her and her family and a total of £910 was raised.

Karen would like to thank all of the local businesses who sokindlydo­natedgener­ousraffle prizes and produce for the teas.

Hospice fundraiser Penny Campbell would also like to thank all of the helpers who set up the marquee and the garden for the event as well as those who served the teas.

She said: “Our community is well known for its generosity and support of families. This money will be used by the hospice to provide even more specialist care for local people.”
