Filey lots pull in a host of interest at memorabilia sale
A number of Filey lots were among those to sell well at a toys, railwayana and transport memorabilia auction.
The sale, on February 11, featured more than 300 lots and was in addition to Duggleby Auctioneers’ fortnightly antiques, interiors, silver and jewellery sale.
The sale included a large collection of Hornby OO gauge model locomotives, many sold for over three times the auction estimates.
Jeremy Wood, senior valuer, said: “The sale was very well attended and there was plenty of interest from internet bidders. We’re pleased with the results.”
A rare vintage Filey enamel railway station sign was sold for £1,200. Other items to sell well included a Bing ‘Live Steam’ 2-2-0 Locomotive with tender and 30 pieces of track. The train was made in the early 1900s and was powered via a spirit burner and water tank. After an estimation of £150-£200, the item sold for £650.
A mid-20th century Austin Pathfinder children’s pedal car with pressed steel body in dark green racing livery – originally built by disabled Welsh Miners from 1949 – sold for £2,800.
A Charles Reuge Saint Croix Music musical automata pocket watch circa 1960, printed landscape scene with automata depicting a lady beside a water pump and a figure on a horse, sold for £2,000.
