Frack Free meeting

The next meeting of the villages’ Frack Free group will be in Cloughton church community hall on Monday February 27 at 7.30pm. The group will also be holding an informatio­n night at East Ayton Village Hall on Saturday March 11 at 6pm. Please inform friends who may be interested. week there will be a service of Holy Communion at 10am led by the Rev Don Maciver, and on Wednesday March 1 there will be an ashing service of Holy Communion at 7.30pm.

The friendship lunch will also be held that day at noon at the Three Jolly Sailors. Please contact Audrey Berry to book a place on 01723 870602 (the friendship lunch is for those feeling the effects of bereavemen­t, or who live on their own).

Café Refresh followed the service at 10.15am, the theme being ‘What does Lent mean to you?’.

A sketch was performed by Ro and David Oliver, Jim Atkin and Caroline Lester. Contributi­ons were received from Ros O’Toole, Tricia Mumford, Mike Lester and Audrey Berry. Sheila and John Ives manned the Traidcraft stall and Tricia Mumford and Ro Oliver served the coffee and the meeting ended with a prayer from David Oliver. The theme of the next Café Refresh on March 19 will be ‘spring’.

There will be a coffee club tomorrow, Friday, in the church hall from 10am11.30am.

York Minster free parish passes are available to borrow from Sue Staveley ring 871211.

The Lent course will start at The Vicarage on March 9.

The Men’s Breakfast Group will meet at St Mary’s Church Hall on Saturday March 4 at 8.30am. The guest speaker will be the Rev Neil Douglas from Ebenezer Baptist Church. Admission only £2.

A new Ladies Breakfast Group will meet at St Mark’s Church, Newby, at 8.30am on March 4. Guest speaker is Helen Lawrence of Wydale Hall. Details from Hazel on 01723 871210.
