Clocks forward plus homes, Boro back

- WRITTEN BY MARTIN DOWEY Martin.dowey@jpress.co.uk @Mjdowey

Clocks go forward one hour on Sunday at 1am. Homes and cars. PAGES 63-79 Ticket latest for return of the Boro.

Things are beginning to approach the business end of Scarborough Athletic’s move into town. The football part of the Weaponness-based facility is really taking shape, with the stateof-the-art 3G pitch ready to be laid.

Boro’s new chairman Trevor Bull said: “The big thing will be when people see that Tarmac turning green and the new pitch going down.

“That will be the point when it will really start looking like a football ground.

“Things are on track, but there is still a lot to do.”

Boro have also revealed details of their opening fixture to take place at their new home, though the opponent is yet to be announced.

They kick off their return to town on Saturday July 15 with an all-ticket game.

This will be Boro’s first game in their own ground since the 1-1 draw against Leigh in April 2007.

Since the former club’s folding, Boro have been playing their games down the coast in Bridlington.

Bull continued: “As promised, those who helped the club in exile last season donating to the “Boro Till I Die” fund, along with trust members and season ticket holders, will get priority to purchase a ticket first.

“Because of that we have had an increase in our membership and season tickets have been boosted, which is great news.

“We have not yet confirmed the rest of our preseason schedule, that will be left up to the manager.

“It would be great to bring in a number of high-profile teams for our first pre-season in Scarborough, but that won’t help us when the season starts.

“The manager will be left to prepare the team as he sees fit for the season.”
