Luncheon club

-

At the Senior Citizen Luncheon Club we all enjoyed our lunch and then Deacon Andrew Carter told us about the 500 mile walk that he and his wife Jane completed on the Camino Way pilgrimage of St James. They spent 35 days walking and meeting other pilgrims along the most beautiful route.

The Camino de Santiago has been walked by millions of pilgrims from all over the globe since the Middle Ages. More than just a pilgrimage, the Camino is a very unique social and cultural experience. Following in their footsteps Andrew and Jane walked the full French Way Camino route, the famous Camino Francés from St Jean Pied de Port in the French Pyrenees to the stunning cathedral of Santiago de Compostela.

An interesting and beautifully illustrated talk, thank you so much Andrew for sharing your experiences with us.

Birthday greetings were sung to Kim and Rosemary. Grateful thanks go to our team of helpers, Sandra, Kim, Judith, Janet, Angela, Kay, Christine and Ruth for the lovely scones.

The next luncheon club will be held on Wednesday April 19 and will be the Easter party. Meet 12.30pm for lunch at 1pm. Lifts within Sherburn village can be arranged if needed, just ring Christine on 01944 711294.
