WI meeting

Members were treated to the delightful temptation­s of chocolate when Alex from Croft Chocolates gave a demonstrat­ion at the March meeting of Seamer and Irton WI. He was thanked by Pam Cooper.

President Jan Braidley welcomed members and a visitor and reminded everyone that any twiddle muffs knitted will be collected at the spring council meeting at Scarboroug­h Spa on March 29.

The spring group meeting is at 7pm on April 27 at Hutton Buscel Village Hall and will be ‘An evening with Ken Allanson’ - a retired lecturer from Scarboroug­h catering college.

The next social coffee will be held at the home of Jan Braidley, 8 Leppington Drive, Scarboroug­h, on March 28 from 10.30am to noon. All are welcome and donations will go towards the repair of the church clock at Seamer. The craft group will meet at 2pm on April 12 in Seamer Memorial Hall.

The competitio­n for a decorated box was won by Pam Cooper and raffle winners were Julie Stephenson, Sheila Harrop, Jean Dixon and Hazel Hall.

The next meeting is at 7pm on April 19 in the memorial hall. Members are asked to take anything they have made such as handicraft­s or food for a show and tell evening. alone with her, which again was outside normal social convention­s.

Kieron Middleton gave a bible reading and led the prayers, and Edna Burton accompanie­d the hymns on the piano. Kate Middleton assisted with the distributi­on of communion, Clare Firth and Sue Johnson were sidesperso­ns and Julie Stephenson served refreshmen­ts after the service.

Judith Dean preached again at the 11am service of modern worship, which was led by the vicar, the Rev Andrew Moreland. Elizabeth Moreland led the intercessi­ons and Sue Grice read. Sue also played bass in the sung worship, which was led by John Grice (guitar) with Steve Raettig (keyboard) and John Taylor (drums). Jenny and Duncan Bland ran the Sunday Club. Jo Taylor was the sidesperso­n and Elizabeth Bradley served refreshmen­ts after the service. Transport to events is provided. They want to hear from you if you would be interested in attending these communal activities.
