Colourful kites will be flying high above Scarboroug­h Castle this weekend as a kite festival gets under way.

The event is suitable for all ages and will be on from Saturday May 27 to Monday May 29 from 11am to 5pm.

Visitors will have chance to see stunning hand-made kites from the collection­s of Mike and Fran Goddard, Malcolm and Jeanette Goodman, Peter and Sarah Bindon, Frances Anderson, Pauline Taylor and many more. The event will also feature incredible sport kite performanc­es by Fusion, and by the UK Pairs Champions Josh Mitcheson and Tom Greenfield. There’s also chance to make your own kite in the kitemaking tent or buy one from the retail stand.

There will be activities throughout the day including kite making workshops (11am to 1pm and 2pm to 4pm). For more informatio­n on the kite festival at Scarboroug­h Castle go to www.english-heritage.org.uk
