New hourly trains are due

The Scarborough Evening News - - NEWS -

New railway timetables set to come into force later this year will include an hourly service between Scarborough and Bridlington.

The new timetables are set to begin in May and will run between Hull and Scarborough.

Although Northern Rail has not officially confirmed the service, an East Riding of Yorkshire Council agenda report runs through the plans.

The new timetable will see trains run between Bridlington and Scarborough every hour compared to the current services which runs 1 hours 30 minutes to 2 hours apart.

Eddie Parker, from Hull and East Riding Rail Users Association confirmed the changes.

He said: “The hourly service from Hull to Scarborough is a brilliant idea, a real plus for the line, especially in the holiday season.

“It means families from places like Goole can wake up on a sunny day, jump on a train and head to the beach.”
