Filey urged to back the Tour de Yorkshire
Decorations and bunting the order of the day as the big day draws ever closer
for the first time.
It has become a well-established tradition for towns and villages on route to get creative with all things blue and yellow, so Filey is continuing the tradition by holding a competition for the best dressed premises.
Whether premises are on the actual route or not, and whether people like cycling or not, the plan is to encourage everyone to be creative and have fun.
Heather Richardson from Filey Tourism Association said: “As someone who lives in Filey and runs a B&B in the town, I know what an amazing com- munity we have. The Tour de Yorkshire is a chance to show our beautiful town at its best, not just to those who come to watch the race on the day, but to the rest of the world through the amazing TV coverage that the event gets.”
Cllr Mike Cockerill, who represents Filey on the Borough Council said: “We are delighted to see that Filey businesses and residents are coming together to embrace and welcome the Tour de Yorkshire this year. The event will not only enable us to showcase our beautiful town to the world but it will also give us the opportunity to promote the health benefits of cycling and bring the community together to be creative and have fun at the same time.”
