Money doesn’t grow on trees – ex­cept in Fi­ley!

The £2,000 has now been shared equally be­tween Fi­ley Sea Cadets, Ebor Academy Fi­ley, Fi­ley In­fant School and Fi­ley Ju­niors.

Rex Har­ri­son, a Fi­ley fish­er­man and one of the or­gan­is­ers be­hind the tree, said: “It’s the first time we’ve done it and we were surprised at how well it’s taken off. Peo­ple thought it was bril­liant. We’ve never had so much fun down there! We’ve got plans un­der way al­ready for next year and it’s go­ing to be even big­ger and bet­ter.

“It’s go­ing to be a free event open to ev­ery­one – that’s the main thing.”

Rex added that the schools will be in­volved in the plans and are look­ing for­ward to play­ing their part. Pic­tured at Coble Land­ing are rep­re­sen­ta­tives from the three schools, the Sea Cadets, and the tree com­mit­tee.
