Horseshoe Ho Down raises £2,000 for village school
Hunmanby Primary School has been presented with a cheque for £2,000 by The Horseshoe Inn, Hunmanby. The money was raised through the The Horseshoe Inn’s ‘Ho Down’ in August which proved to be a great success. The ‘Ho Down’ included bucking bronco, tombola, barbecue, tin can alley, bouncy castle, coconut shy, face painting and ice cream van.
Conrad Fox, Headteacher at Hunmanby Primary School, was approached by the landlord Dave Wells and his business partner Steve Fisher, who said they wanted to support funds in school. Through the event £1,800 was raised for the school and £200 for Filey Lions who helped out on the day by bringing stalls and equipment free of charge. Filey Lions donated their £200 back to the school, raising the total amount to £2,000. Mr Wells presented the cheque at a school assembly on Monday. A spokesperson from Hunmanby Primary School said: “We would like to thank Dave, Steve and his team and Filey Lions for raising this huge amount of money.
“We have decided to buy a defibrillator for the community and to use the rest of the money towards the building of a reading summer house in school.” PICTURE shows Dave Wells of the Horseshoe Inn, headteacher Conrad Fox. Steve Fisher of the Horseshoe and pupils Mia,Lucas and Ellie.
