Horse­shoe Ho Down raises £2,000 for vil­lage school

Hunmanby Pri­mary School has been pre­sented with a cheque for £2,000 by The Horse­shoe Inn, Hunmanby. The money was raised through the The Horse­shoe Inn’s ‘Ho Down’ in Au­gust which proved to be a great suc­cess. The ‘Ho Down’ in­cluded buck­ing bronco, tombola, bar­be­cue, tin can al­ley, bouncy cas­tle, co­conut shy, face paint­ing and ice cream van.

Con­rad Fox, Head­teacher at Hunmanby Pri­mary School, was ap­proached by the land­lord Dave Wells and his busi­ness part­ner Steve Fisher, who said they wanted to sup­port funds in school. Through the event £1,800 was raised for the school and £200 for Fi­ley Lions who helped out on the day by bring­ing stalls and equip­ment free of charge. Fi­ley Lions do­nated their £200 back to the school, rais­ing the to­tal amount to £2,000. Mr Wells pre­sented the cheque at a school as­sem­bly on Mon­day. A spokesper­son from Hunmanby Pri­mary School said: “We would like to thank Dave, Steve and his team and Fi­ley Lions for rais­ing this huge amount of money.

“We have de­cided to buy a de­fib­ril­la­tor for the com­mu­nity and to use the rest of the money to­wards the build­ing of a read­ing sum­mer house in school.” PIC­TURE shows Dave Wells of the Horse­shoe Inn, head­teacher Con­rad Fox.
