South­wick tack­les Moun­tain Res­cue Marathon event

A record num­ber of 15 club mem­bers com­peted in three trail races that were staged by the Scar­bor­ough and Ryedale Moun­tain Res­cue Team as a fundraiser.

The var­i­ous cour­ses con­sisted of routes around Dalby For­est, the North York­shire Moors, Le­visham, Sal­ter­gate and Bride­stones.

Andy South­wick was the only club mem­ber tack­ling a test­ing marathon dis­tance at which he fin­ished up in 29th over­all in 5 hours 47 min­utes.

Eleven club mem­bers com­peted in the half marathon, at which which Matt Mid­dle­ton fin­ished fourth over­all in 104.51.

He was fol­lowed by Alan Whe­lan, who was fifth over­all in 107.16.

Nikki Han­son was the first of the club’s six fe­males af­ter fin­ish­ing 9th fe­male over­all in 147.35.

Other male over­all race re­sults: D Walls 16th, N Coombes 38th, D Parke 73rd.

Other fe­male re­sults in gen­der or­der: H Coates 13th, N Doody 24th, C Pelucci 34th, S Gothard 46th, H We­ston 47th.

In the 10-kilo­me­tre event, new club mem­ber Hikari Ya­m­aguchi was third fe­male over­all in 60.05.

Louise Milne fol­lowed in 25th and Melanie Padgham was 40th.

Three club mem­bers of the same fam­ily took part in the Sher­wood For­est Parkrun.

All three achieved good re­sults in their age groups.

Alan Keenan was first Over-70, Pat Keenan se­cond Over-65 and their daugh­ter Linda Hinch­liffe was fourth Over-45.

Matt Mid­dle­ton fin­ished fourth in a half-marathon event
