Po­lice hunt for man af­ter cou­ple at­tacked

PO­LICE have launched a na­tion­wide search for a man on the run af­ter a city cen­tre at­tack be­lieved to in­volve a tasar gun.

Two main streets in In­ver­ness were cor­doned off af­ter two men and a women were hurt in the dis­tur­bance at a flat.

The in­ci­dent hap­pened in Baron Tay­lor Street dur­ing the early hours of yes­ter­day.

Po­lice is­sued an ap­peal for help to trace a 36-year-old man, be­lieved to be a lo­cal mu­si­cian.

A source claimed the man had a his­tory of mental health prob­lems and had been stalk­ing a for­mer girl­friend.

He added that the at­tacker was be­lieved to be in pos­ses­sion of at least one weapon, sus­pected to be a tasar gun.

North­ern Con­stab­u­lary re­leased de­tails of a sil­ver Citroën C5 car, reg­is­tra­tion HK52 TYH, he is un­der­stood to be driv­ing.

A spokes­woman said: “In­quiries to date would in­di­cate that the man and ve­hi­cle are no longer within the North­ern Con­stab­u­lary force area.

“North­ern Con­stab­u­lary has shared in­for­ma­tion on the in­di­vid­ual and his ve­hi­cle with Forces in Scot­land and Eng­land and they are as­sist­ing the Force with in­quiries.”

The man is de­scribed as white, be­tween 5ft 9in and 5ft 10in, of medium build, last seen wear­ing a dark beret type hat and has dark, shaved hair.

The spokes­woman added: “The three peo­ple within the prop­erty re­ceived mi­nor in­juries as a re­sult of the dis­tur­bance.

“The area has been cor­doned off by po­lice while of­fi­cers carry out in­quiries into the cir­cum­stances.

“A nearby fast food premises was closed for a short time while po­lice car­ried out in­quiries.
