JAMES Link is living a life of drink, drugs and women. His only friends in this lonely existence are Dr Fiddes and his part-time lover Susie. When their love lives intertwine, they all pay the price.
Adapted from James Kennaway’s 1960s novel, this stage version lacks something – possibly a fully developed relationship between actor and audience, as at no point during Link’s journey will you want to care about the life of this desperate, womanising drunk. Robert Shaw’s smart and snappy production has a fast-paced structure, yet the empty feeling at the end overshadows this.
Until 30 August. Today 12:30pm.
