Father of missing man brands police ‘atrocious’

- By FRASER CLARKE

A father has accused police of treating his son no better than a “missing dog” since his disappearance three years ago.

Allan Bryant lashed out at Police Scotland after he was woken in the night by a text from police promising an “update” the following day.

The 50-year-old says he then waited by the phone the next day without getting any word back. Mr Bryant, from Glenrothes, Fife, recorded an emotional fiveminute video in which he railed against the force’s “atrocious” lack of communication.

His son, also named Allan, has not been seen since leaving Styx nightclub in Glenrothes in the early hours of 3 November, 2013, when he was 23.

Mr Bryant claims it is “virtually impossible” to get a reply from police despite sending thousands of e-mails.

He said: “They’ve treated Allan like a missing dog since he went missing. The lack of communication has been atrocious.”
