Parents raiding piggy banks

- By VICKY SHAW

Piggy bank-raiding parents are plundering nearly £50 a year typically from their children’s savings.

A survey of parents with children aged between four and 16 found 60 per cent of mums and dads admit to dipping into their offsprings’ savings.

Paying school lunch money, needing change for parking and school trips are the most common reasons for parents dipping into piggy banks.

More than a third (34 per cent) of parents do not always pay the money back.
